Brockville Public Library Strategic Plan
This Strategic Plan for the Brockville Public Library is the result of the combined efforts of members of the Board of Trustees, the Library Director, and staff and patrons. It provides a positive opportunity to look into the future, to develop plans, to revise, focus and improve library services.
As it is a living document, it is regularly reviewed to re-assess priorities and adjust the goals, objectives and strategies as conditions change. It is the foundation for the continued growth and development of the library. It is intended to guide the Board of Trustees, Director and staff through the choices that must be made to set a course for the future. Responsibility for each strategic objective will be assigned on an annual basis by the Board and Library Director.

Mission:
Brockville Public Library helps the people of Brockville and area pursue their goals and enrich the quality of their lives by providing readily accessible information and library services. We are committed to providing value to the diverse people of Brockville and area by:
- promoting a lifelong interest in reading
- supporting the pursuit of learning
- offering opportunities for the creative use of leisure time
- providing information needed for daily living and life transitions
- fostering an informed community

Brockville Public Library will understand and respond to the unique needs of the diverse people of Brockville and area. We will pursue three strategies:
- understanding the changing needs
- developing targeted services
- continuing valued services
The services we provide:
Brockville Public Library will provide cost-effective, convenient access to accurate, in-depth information and library materials through implementation of the electronic library and continuous innovation in service delivery. To achieve this goal BPL will pursue strategies in five areas:
- diversifying products
- redefining help services
- adapting places and spaces
- improving access and convenience
- planning area-wide and targeting services locally
The people who provide those services:
Staff of the Brockville Public Library will continually develop their skills, knowledge, and flexibility to meet the changing needs of the people of Brockville and area.
